This month in Après Diaries, we're delighting in the aural genius of Gabi Bobrovizki.
A music consultant and NTS host, Gabi articulates one of our favourite senses, languages and human expressions. She makes taste listenable, like musical geometry.
Get to know the mind behind the craft. Take a beat. Let it happen.

To properly introduce you, what are your nicknames?
I’ve always been known as Gabi. I tried to make some other nicknames stick in highschool like Zibriel, but none of them had legs sadly.
How would your friends describe you?
Like a true Cancer
Where do you currently live, and who with?
I’ve been living in London for over 10 years, originally from Sydney with a short 2 year stint via Amsterdam. I live with my boyfriend which is fun for me but a conventionally boring answer.

Have you been there most of your life?
I’m originally from Sydney. When I was 20 I moved to Amsterdam for a few years, couldn’t get a visa to stay, so moved over to London.
Coffee order?
Instant coffee forever
What’s the best item you’ve purchased this last year?
Linen sheets and a compilation CD off ebay that my parents put together in the 90s to promote their club/street wear fashion brand called Hound Dog.
Do you have any current obsessions?
Currently rewatching Lost. Guess I could say I am obsessed.

Favourite album you can currently think of? Most notable song on said album? Who or what does it remind you of?
I’m really into this album “Summer 2000” by a band called X-Cetra. It was recently reissued by numero records. It originally came out in 2000 recorded by some pre-teen girls in Suburban Santa Rosa, California. All the tracks are so good but I especially love the track “Another Girl”. The lyrics tap into a deeply nostalgic feeling of your crush crushing on another girl :(
What are your daily rituals?
Phone on airplane mode from when I brush my teeth at night until I get to my desk at work the next morning. Keeps me sane.

What do you currently do for work?
I am head of the music team at NTS + I do a bit of A&R for 4AD

What’s your one monthly subscription you’d be lost without?
Yoga
What’s the most controversial conversation topic to bring up at your dinner table?
People only like truffle because it’s expensive

What are you currently obsessed with listening to?
Lots of Hardcord and Copenhagen pop
What do you get up to when you’re not working on something?
If it’s warm enough, a swim at the Lido (English term for public swimming pool)
Has your relationship to your work or creativity changed as your career has evolved?
They feel one and the same to me. Scouting bands for 4AD and strategising the direction of NTS Radio has, if anything, only enriched my creativity.

Something you can’t live without?
Tiger balm
Music is always a big part of self expression and story telling. Is there a particular album that helps you drop into your creative flow?
Sometimes I need to reset my brain if I’ve been listening to too much of a certain type of music. I’ll usually do that with a nostalgic pop idol like No Doubt, Nirvana, or Alanis Morisette.

Please make us a playlist big or small that sounds a little bit like your answers! We would love to spend the month revelling in the soundscape of you.
Here is an all gal playlist of sad girl music that makes me happy
