Deux Diaries is the place for friends, sisters, partners, soul mates, lovers, the two of them.
In our second edition, we're adoring Tahni and Ellie Bouhadana, infinitely clever sisters and complementary creatives out of Melbourne. Two sides of a coin; Deux in mind, taste and spirit.
Any nicknames for one other?
Tahni: Ells, Elloosh
Ellie: Tahns, Tahnoosh, Tooshinka
What do you each do for work?
Tahni: I am a ceramicist, designer, and sculptor. I also work in styling and photographic content for creative identities.
Ellie: I am a chef. I cook for private brand lead events and I also cook for longer term residencies in Australia and overseas.
Would you trade wardrobes with each other?
Tahni: I would! I think Ellie’s style and mine are versions of each other’s eyes. In fashion, I find myself extremely inspired by Ellie’s experimentation with colour, form, and layering.
Ellie: Yes, definitely. I am always looking toward and finding inspiration in Tahni’s elegant aesthetic. I love the way Tahni drapes material and layers jewels, brooches and hair clips.
Would you trade Spotify accounts with each other?
Tahni: Eee I don’t think I would! Between the two of us, I usually take control in the realm of music.
Ellie: Yes, I would! I definitely don’t claim to be good at making playlists. That is Tahni’s realm! I love what Tahni loves - the French, Arabic energy - we listen to this together on repeat. But Tahni doesn’t necessarily love what I love - more of the classics and a little more pop.
Your favourite shared memories?
Tahni: Travelling anywhere together. I love our shared moments of venturing exciting cities. Everything is better done with Ellie by my side.
Ellie: Spending time together at my Kiosk pop up this past Australian summer. Tahni is an incredible host, and she put a lot of love into making the Kiosk a special place. Whenever Tahni walked into the Kiosk kitchen I felt immediately at ease. She would turn the music, chat to the guests, and dance with my dad and all our friends at the end of a busy evening.
What do you disagree on?
Tahni: Lots of things as sisters normally would. For example, I like calling her on the phone and she’d rather stick to messaging.
Ellie: Too many things and nothing at all.
Does the other sister live up to their star sign?
Tahni: I admit, I don’t know enough about astrology to be able to tell. I do however know that Ellie is an Aries.
Ellie: Admittedly, we aren’t really so knowledgeable on our star signs - something we should learn more about!
Name what you love and admire about each other?
Tahni: Ellie is an incredible artist with so much style, beauty, and grace. Her ability to dream up and execute a vision is so admirable to me.
Ellie: Too much. Firstly, Tahni’s humour and wit - she makes me laugh a lot. Tahni’s openness to adventure encourages me. And of course, her precision and eye - she just knows what goes well with what, I am always asking for her opinion on the design of a space, even the design of a dish - textures, colours etc.

What’s a foolproof way to cheer the other sister up?
Tahni: To give Ellie tickles and head massages never fails.
Ellie: Going out for a martini usually shakes Tahni up and puts her back on track ;)
What’s the best trip you’ve taken together?
Tahni: There are two that I must mention. Last year we rented a car and drove from Marseille through to Torino and Switzerland with our friend Yaara which was so serene. And in 2024, Ruby, Ellie and I drove from Barcelona to Centelles, where we stayed in a beautiful home beside a horse stable in a tiny town with very little to do. The three of us together is such a special gift.
Ellie: Hard to pick one! A couple summers ago I tagged along on a road trip Tahni and our other sister Ruby were doing through Spain. The three of us shared one very large bed in an old villa which was hilarious. We ate so well and took a day trip to the beach - on the way our car almost broke down - it was a whole thing but so special.

What are your favourite scents?
Tahni: Rose, tobacco, orange blossom, tomato, fig.
Ellie: Tangerine, peach, and a touch of ocean salt. Also I love the orange blossom scent that Tahni wears.
